historical figure Ireland

John Ciotach Barry was the 7th Lord Barry and the original builder of Barryscourt Castle, which was constructed between 1392 and 1420. His legacy includes not only the castle itself, a significant historical landmark in Cork, but also the events of the Desmond Rebellion in the 1580s when he partially destroyed the castle to prevent it from being seized by English adventurer Walter Raleigh.
