John Edgar

John Edgar was a Dutch student who is recognized as a pioneer of football in Indonesia. While studying at the Hoogere Burgerschool in Surabaya in the late 19th century, he developed a passion for football during his time in England. He founded the Victoria football club in September 1894, marking the beginning of organized football in the Dutch East Indies, which is now Indonesia. His contributions to the sport were acknowledged by the colonial government, and his legacy continues to influence Indonesian football history.
