
John Langdon Down
John Langdon Down was a British physician best known for his early work in identifying and describing Down syndrome, a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra chromosome 21. His seminal paper, published in 1866, laid the foundation for our understanding of the condition that would later bear his name.
