John Pentland Mahaffy

John Pentland Mahaffy was a prominent Greek scholar and professor of ancient history at Trinity College Dublin, later serving as the university's Provost. Known for his close friendship with Oscar Wilde and his opposition to Irish independence, he founded the Georgian Society in 1908 to advocate for the preservation of colonial architecture.
