John Roland Huard

John Roland Huard was a celebrated American football player and coach, born on March 9, 1944, in Waterville, Maine. He made a significant impact in collegiate football as a standout linebacker for the University of Maine, where he was recognized as a small-college All-American. Huard briefly played in the NFL before transitioning to coaching, leading the Acadia Axemen to two Vanier Cup championships and earning accolades as Canadian university football's coach of the year. Despite a challenging tenure as head coach of the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL, he left a lasting legacy in football, particularly in Maine, where he was inducted into multiple halls of fame.
