Jonas Trellund
Jonas Trellund was a Danish merchant who chartered the Dutch merchant ship Melckmeyt, also known as Mjaltastúlkan, to trade with Iceland in the 17th century. The ship is historically significant for having stranded near Flatey in Breiðafjörður in 1659, and it has become a focal point in discussions of maritime archaeology, particularly in relation to the recent underwater archaeological research led by Dr. Kevin Martin examining the remains of the English schooner Minerva.
