Jorge Monteiro

Jorge Monteiro, also known as Jotamonte or Jorge Cornetim, is a prominent figure in Cape Verdean music, celebrated for his contributions as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, conductor, and educator. He has composed nearly fifty mornas, which are deeply embedded in the collective memory of Cape Verdeans, with notable works such as 'Santo é bo nome' and 'Mindelo.'
