Jos Murer

Jos Murer (1530-1580) was a Swiss painter and cartographer best known for creating the first detailed city map of Zurich, illustrating daily life in the city 450 years ago. His meticulous work, which combined artistic and technical skills, allowed for a unique aerial view of Zurich, despite the lack of aerial photography. Murer's contributions extended beyond cartography; he was also a poet and a glazier, and his legacy is closely tied to the history of Zurich.
