José La Mar

José La Mar was a prominent Peruvian military leader during the early 19th century, known for his role in the conflicts between Peru and Gran Colombia. He commanded forces that invaded Gran Colombian territories and occupied key cities, such as Loja and Guayaquil, before ultimately facing defeat at the Battle of Tarqui in 1829.
