José Manuel Jiménez Miranda is a retired Mexican Army colonel who served as the head of security for Carlos Alberto Manzo Rodríguez, the mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, who was recently assassinated. Following the mayor's murder, Jiménez Miranda became the subject of a nationwide search initiated by the Michoacán Attorney General's Office, as he is implicated in the ongoing investigation alongside seven other bodyguards. His past includes a controversial tenure as the municipal director of public security, from which he was dismissed due to domestic violence allegations.
