Throughout his career, he directed several newspapers, including La Hora, Excelsior, and La Prensa Libre, and was a well-respected columnist. Penabad also served as Costa Rica's ambassador to Cuba, becoming the first diplomat to hold this position in 50 years following the Cuban Revolution. He passed away at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy marked by his dedication to journalism and diplomacy.
