José María Peralta Lagos
José María Peralta Lagos (1873-1944) was a prominent Salvadoran writer and engineer known for his contributions to literature and civil engineering. His dual training as a military officer and engineer allowed him to play a significant role in the development of urban infrastructure in El Salvador, including the National Palace and the National Theater of San Salvador. As a writer, he adopted the pseudonym T.P. MECHÍN, under which he produced humorous and satirical works that addressed social injustices. Despite his privileged background, Peralta Lagos remained sensitive to the struggles of the common people, using literature as a means of expression and political critique.
