José Maurício Nolasco
José Maurício Nolasco is a prominent Brazilian politician and public administrator, currently serving as the vice-president of the Tribunal de Contas do Estado do Rio (TCE-RJ). Appointed to the tribunal in 1998 by then-governor Marcelo Alencar, he has held various leadership positions, including president of the state water utility Cedae and director roles in Comlurb and Banerj. Nolasco’s tenure has not been without controversy; he was arrested in 2017 under allegations of corruption but was later reinstated by the Superior Tribunal de Justiça in 2023. He is set to retire at the mandatory age of 75, prompting discussions about his successor as part of broader political strategies in the state.
