Despite his continuous denial of involvement in terrorist activities, he was convicted and faced a lengthy prison sentence, which was later reduced, though he never served time due to amnesty laws. Mouta Liz was associated with various radical leftist movements and was involved in significant criminal activities, including a high-profile robbery. He passed away at the age of 86 in a Lisbon hospital.
