José Roberto de Castro Neves

José Roberto de Castro Neves is a prominent Brazilian lawyer, professor, and author, recognized as the largest collector of Shakespeare's works in Brazil, boasting over six thousand pieces. He has dedicated much of his academic career to the study of Shakespeare, teaching civil law at PUC-Rio for 30 years and covering law and literature at FGV for a decade. Recently, he published 'Shakespeare Ontem, Hoje e Amanhã, e Amanhã, e Amanhã', his third book on the Bard, which explores the timelessness and relevance of Shakespeare's themes in contemporary society. Neves passionately argues that Shakespeare's works address universal human experiences and emotions, maintaining their popularity and significance more than four centuries after the playwright's death. In addition to his literary pursuits, he enjoys playing the piano and maintains an extensive vinyl collection, reflecting his diverse interests and vibrant personality.
