Josef Augusta (1894-1970) was a prominent Czech paleontologist and a key figure in the development of paleontology in Czechoslovakia. He collaborated extensively with artist Zdeněk Burian, helping to bridge the gap between scientific understanding and artistic representation of prehistoric life. Augusta’s research and insights provided a foundation for many of Burian's illustrations, making them not only visually striking but also scientifically relevant.
