Josef Lang

Josef Lang was Austria's last executioner, known for carrying out 39 death sentences between 1900 and 1918, and he became infamous for a photograph where he posed with a victim. His legacy serves as the inspiration for the central character in Ferdinand Schmalz's new play 'bumm tschak', which premiered at the Bregenzer Festspiele.
