Josep Maria Cruzet

Josep Maria Cruzet (1903-1962) was a pivotal figure in the preservation and revival of Catalan literature during the Franco regime. As the founder of Ediciones Selectas, he courageously published significant works in Catalan, including the complete works of Jacint Verdaguer, amidst severe censorship and repression. His strategic vision and determination helped re-establish a literary culture that had been nearly extinguished, making him a central figure in 20th-century Catalan cultural history.
