Joseph Akaravong

Joseph Akaravong is a Laotian political activist who sought refuge in France after fleeing his home country in 2018. He is known for his outspoken criticism of the Laotian government, particularly regarding human rights violations and corruption, which he claims contributed to a catastrophic dam collapse in 2018. Akaravong was recently in the news after surviving a knife attack in Pau, France, where he was targeted while accompanied by another Laotian activist. Following the attack, four suspects were placed in police custody as authorities launched an investigation into the attempted assassination.
