
Juan Carlos Gómez Sánchez
Juan Carlos Gómez Sánchez has been appointed as the new Director General of Customs in Costa Rica as of April 4, 2024. Previously, he served as the Deputy Director General of Customs since July 2024 and has extensive experience in the Ministry of Finance, spanning over 39 years. He has held various positions, including Director of Customs in 2019 and Chief of the Technical Investigations Department. A trained lawyer with a master's degree in Tax Law from the Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional, Gómez Sánchez has also taught Customs Law for more than 20 years. He takes over the role from Cristian Montiel Torres, who returns to his previous position within the Ministry.
