Juan Gerardi Conedera

Juan Gerardi Conedera was a prominent Guatemalan bishop and human rights advocate, known for his work in promoting social justice and peace during Guatemala's civil war. He was the head of the Archdiocese of Guatemala and became a target due to his outspoken criticism of the government and military. Tragically, he was murdered on April 26, 1998, just days after the release of a report detailing human rights abuses during the war, which has led to ongoing investigations and legal proceedings surrounding his death.
