Juana Chalas, affectionately known as 'Tula Chalas' and celebrated as 'La Reina de los Dulces', was a renowned Dominican confectioner who gained fame for her unique and beloved sweets, particularly her dulce de leche. She dedicated her life to supporting her family after the death of her husband, building a successful business in El Seibo that garnered both national and international acclaim. Juana's remarkable journey was marked by her resilience and integrity, raising five children while maintaining her sweet shop, which became a local landmark. She passed away at the age of 101, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and a reputation that reflected her commitment to quality and community.
