Julia Barreras is the mother of Dominican swimmer Javier Núñez, who played a pivotal role in her son's journey to becoming a successful athlete. After nearly drowning in a pool at the age of five, Javier's life was forever changed when Julia decided to teach him how to swim, turning a moment of crisis into a lifelong passion for the sport. Her unwavering support and sacrifices, along with her determination to provide Javier with the opportunities he needed, have been instrumental in his development as a swimmer, culminating in his achievements at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
