Julián Fernando Condía Bello was an 18-year-old grumete (apprentice) in the Colombian Navy, hailing from Sogamoso, Boyacá. He was nearing graduation from the Escuela Naval de Suboficiales, having been recognized as one of the best students during his training. Tragically, he lost his life on August 31, 2023, after falling from the ARC Gloria, the Navy's training ship, into the Río Magdalena during a training exercise. His passing has deeply affected the naval community, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
