Junayed Akter is a 12-year-old boy from Bangladesh whose life has been severely affected by toxic lead poisoning, a consequence of environmental contamination from a now-closed battery recycling factory in his village. He represents one of the millions of children in Bangladesh suffering from dangerously high levels of lead exposure, which can lead to serious cognitive and physical impairments.
