Júnior Sousa

Júnior Sousa is a talented young Cape Verdean visual artist known for his poignant exploration of identity, memory, and cultural heritage through his paintings. Recently, he made headlines with the inauguration of his first solo exhibition titled 'Nha Txom' at the Tutu Sousa Art Gallery in Cidade da Praia, showcasing 15 emotive works that reflect his childhood experiences and the essence of Cape Verdean culture. At just 23, Sousa emigrated to Portugal to further his artistic journey, where he has participated in numerous collective exhibitions across Europe. His work is deeply influenced by the artistic environment fostered by his father, Tutu Sousa, and aims to evoke nostalgia and pride among viewers, reminding them of their roots and shared cultural experiences.
