
Juozas Lukša-Daumantas
Juozas Lukša-Daumantas (1921–1951) was a prominent leader of the Lithuanian partisans during the resistance against Soviet occupation. Known for his bravery and strategic mind, he made several attempts to reach the West to share the plight of Lithuania. His life was tragically cut short in a shootout in 1951, and his remains have never been found. In 2021, the year dedicated to his memory, a monument honoring his legacy was unveiled in Vilnius.
