Jürgen Schumann was the pilot of the Lufthansa flight 181, 'Landshut,' which was hijacked on October 13, 1977, by a group of Palestinian terrorists. Tragically, he was killed by the hijackers during the ordeal, which lasted several days and concluded with a rescue operation by the German special forces GSG9.
