Jytte Lyberth

Jytte Lyberth is a Greenlandic woman from Maniitsoq who became one of the victims of the controversial 'Spiral Campaign' orchestrated by the Danish government between 1964 and 1975, which involved the non-consensual insertion of contraceptive devices into Inuit women. At the age of 14, while attending boarding school, Jytte was subjected to this procedure without her knowledge or consent, causing her significant physical and emotional pain. Her story highlights the trauma faced by many Inuit women and has become a part of the broader fight for justice and recognition of historical injustices against Indigenous populations in Greenland.
