Lieutenant General K.V.N.P. Premarathna has recently been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, receiving his appointment letter from President's Secretary Dr. Nandik Senath Kumaranayake. A distinguished military officer, Premarathna began his service in the Sri Lanka Army in 1990 as a cadet officer and later completed his basic military training at the Sri Lanka Army School of Military Studies. He has earned advanced degrees in security studies from the United States Naval Postgraduate School and the University of Kelaniya. Over his 36-year career, he has received numerous accolades, including two Gallantry Awards for bravery and the Vishisht Seva Medal for his exceptional service in the military.
