Kamala Persad-Bissessar

Kamala Persad-Bissessar is a Trinidadian politician and attorney who has served as the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, becoming the first woman to hold this position in the country's history. A member of the United National Congress (UNC), she has been a prominent figure in Caribbean politics, advocating for social justice, economic reform, and regional integration. Recently, she was in the news for her government's decision to seek an advisory opinion from the Caribbean Court of Justice regarding the contentious reappointment of Carla Barnett as CARICOM's secretary general.
