Kanya Sophonpanich

Kanya Sophonpanich, also known as Khunying Kanya, is a prominent Thai politician and academic born on September 21, 1940, in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. She has a distinguished academic background, holding a bachelor's degree in science with honors from Chulalongkorn University and a Ph.D. in high-energy physics from Imperial College London. Kanya has had a long-standing career in politics, having served as a member of the Democrat Party for over 20 years, where she held significant roles including Minister of Science and Technology and Deputy Minister of Education. Recently, she transitioned to the new Thai Khao Mai Party, where she has been named the second candidate for Prime Minister in the upcoming 2023 elections, reflecting her commitment to educational reform and development in Thailand.
