Karen Njeri

Karen Njeri, a 23-year-old inmate at Langata Women’s Maximum Prison, found herself navigating the challenges of new motherhood behind bars after giving birth to twins while incarcerated. Despite her lack of prior parenting experience and the difficulties of raising two infants in prison, she remains grateful for the support available to her. Njeri's story highlights the struggles faced by approximately 229 women in Kenyan prisons who care for young children.
