Karin Harjo is a trailblazing ski coach known for her significant contributions to women's skiing. Born to Norwegian missionaries in Japan, she has lived in Norway and the United States. As of spring 2023, she became the head coach for Mikaela Shiffrin, the most accomplished female skier in history. Harjo previously served as the head coach of the Canadian women's ski team, leading athletes like Valerie Grenier to World Cup victories. Notably, she made history as the first woman to set a slalom course in the World Cup in 2016 and recently became the first woman to set a giant slalom course, achieving this milestone on International Women's Day.
