Karin M. Lang is the newly appointed Deputy Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), bringing over 30 years of experience as a senior career diplomat with the US Department of State. Fluent in Spanish and Chinese, Lang has held various significant roles, including serving as coordinator for Cuban affairs and consul general at the US embassy in Tokyo. Her previous assignments span economic and consular positions in several countries, including Cuba, Thailand, China, and Mexico. Lang has a deep appreciation for the US-Taiwan relationship, having served in Taiwan earlier in her career, and is focused on enhancing strategic and economic collaboration, especially in advanced technologies. She was recognized in 2015 with the Mary A. Ryan Award for Outstanding Public Service.
