Kārlis Skrastiņš

Kārlis Skrastiņš was a prominent Latvian ice hockey player, born on July 9, 1974, in Riga. He is celebrated for his exceptional career in the NHL, where he played 832 regular-season games and earned the title 'Iron Man' for his remarkable streak of 495 consecutive games. Skrastiņš also represented Latvia in multiple World Championships and Olympic Games, serving as captain in his final international appearances. Tragically, he lost his life in a plane crash in 2011, which claimed the entire Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, making him a revered figure in Latvian sports history.
