After being deceived into providing her banking details to a fraudster claiming to be from the government, Qian lost nearly $50,000 from her HSBC account. Despite her attempts to seek reimbursement, HSBC initially denied liability, offering only a partial compensation, which she reluctantly accepted due to fears of losing everything.
