Keats is a 72-year-old Kiwi pensioner who found herself stranded at the Palm Beach Hotel on the Gold Coast due to the severe weather conditions caused by ex-cyclone Alfred. She has been a regular visitor to the area for over 25 years and was in Australia to support a family member facing health challenges. Despite the dangerous weather, she remained safe on the second floor of her hotel, expressing concern for the conditions and the risk posed by sightseers venturing onto the beaches.
