Kenneth 'Skengdon' Black was a pioneering Jamaican producer and the founder of the influential Stereo Mars sound system, which played a vital role in the digital dancehall era. Starting his career as a deejay and dance promoter in the mid-70s, he collaborated with notable artists such as Sugar Minott and Danny Dread. Black established the Skengdon label in 1985, producing a rich catalogue of music that helped to define the sound of the era. His work continues to be celebrated as VP Records honors his legacy with a reissue series, including the classic album 'Wake The Town.'
