Khady Sene

Khady Sene is a skilled basket weaver from Mborine, Senegal, who has been practicing her craft since childhood. Under the shade of a mango tree, she joins other women in her village to create traditional baskets made of coiled reeds and colorful plastic strips. Despite the popularity of their handmade creations in international markets, Sene and her fellow artisans struggle to receive fair compensation for their work, often selling their baskets at prices that do not cover their production costs.
