Khamit Uskenov

Khamit Uskenov was a courageous Soviet officer during World War II, serving as a lieutenant and commander of a mortar platoon in the 961st Rifle Regiment. He was instrumental in significant battles, particularly during the crossing of the Western Bug River, where his leadership led to the destruction of numerous enemy forces. After the war, he returned to Kazakhstan, where he worked in various roles, including in banking and education. His heroism was not widely known until decades later, when his family discovered his remarkable wartime contributions through archival research.
