King Faisal II
King Faisal II of Iraq, who reigned from 1939 to 1958, was the last monarch of Iraq, ascending to the throne at a young age. His reign was marked by efforts to modernize the country and promote development, including infrastructure projects, amidst a backdrop of political turmoil and increasing dissent against the monarchy. Despite his attempts to foster national unity and improve relations with neighboring Arab countries, his reign ended violently with a coup led by the Free Officers, resulting in his assassination and the abolition of the monarchy.
