Kiril Tenevski (1943-2019) was a renowned Macedonian director and screenwriter, celebrated for his significant contributions to the country's cinema. He studied architecture in Skopje before turning to film, where he gained recognition for his unique storytelling and artistic vision. Tenevski's accolades include prestigious awards such as the Golden Arena for directing at the Pula Film Festival and the 'Firebird' award for best debut director at the Moscow International Film Festival. His film 'Black Seed' was even a candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2013, he received lifetime achievement honors for his outstanding impact on Macedonian cinematography. Recently, his family donated a collection of his awards and recognitions to the Cinematheque of Macedonia, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire future generations.
