Kozireva

Kozireva is a 19-year-old Russian activist who was recently sentenced to nearly three years in prison for attaching a poem by Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko to his monument in St. Petersburg. The act occurred on the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and she faced charges of 'discrediting' the military due to her previous social media posts on the war. Prior to her arrest, she had been expelled from medical school for similar charges. In court, she expressed her admiration for Shevchenko, asserting that his poetry could not discredit the Russian army, and highlighted the historical context of his work.
