Krsto Đurović
Krsto Đurović was a Yugoslav People's Army officer who notably opposed the military's aggressive actions during the Croatian War of Independence. He served as a counter-admiral and commander of the southern naval sector in Boka, where he famously declared his commitment to protecting Dubrovnik from bombardment. His principled stance against the war led to his tragic death in a helicopter crash in 1991, which remains shrouded in mystery, with suspicions that it was a result of friendly fire from the JNA. In recognition of his bravery and moral conviction, a street in Cetinje has been named after him.
