
Kuzman Josifovski-Pitu
Kuzman Josifovski-Pitu was a prominent Macedonian revolutionary and national hero, born on June 15, 1915, in Prilep. He played a crucial role in the National Liberation Movement during World War II, advocating for Macedonian independence and social justice. A member of the Communist Party, he was known for his organizational skills and deep commitment to the ideals of Macedonian statehood and identity. His activism began in his youth, participating in student organizations and mobilizing support for national causes. Pitu was instrumental in the establishment of the Anti-Fascist Assembly for the National Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) and is remembered for his powerful speeches and writings that inspired many. He was killed in 1944 while resisting fascist forces, and he was posthumously declared a national hero on August 2, 1945.
