Ladislav Vaško

Ladislav Vaško is a trained veterinary physician who later pursued a career in biochemistry at the Medical Faculty in Košice. He recalls his experience during the foot-and-mouth disease epidemic of the 1970s in southwest Slovakia, where he, along with fellow veterinary students, was deployed to assist in controlling the outbreak by vaccinating livestock. His firsthand account highlights the strict measures taken during that period, including the mass culling of infected animals.
