Lala Touray

Lala Touray has been appointed as the Deputy Executive Director of the National Youth Service Scheme in The Gambia. Previously, she served as a Senior Program Officer at the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for International Affairs, focusing on programs that enhance democratic governance. Her work has included significant involvement with state institutions, civil society, and political parties to promote transparency and accountability. Touray has also contributed to the International Republican Institute, assisting in national dialogue on constitutional reform, and worked with the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission to ensure youth and women’s participation in the reconciliation process. An advocate for youth and women's rights, she has represented Gambian youth on various platforms, including the Commonwealth Youth Council, and has received multiple awards for her contributions to civic engagement and leadership.
