Lâm Văn Tuất
Lâm Văn Tuất, widely known as Hòa thượng Thích Quảng Đức, was a Vietnamese Buddhist monk born in 1897 in Khánh Hòa province. He is best remembered for his self-immolation in 1963 as a protest against the oppressive policies of the Ngô Đình Diệm government towards Buddhism. This act drew international attention and sympathy for the Buddhist struggle, ultimately contributing to significant political change in Vietnam. His heart, which miraculously remained intact after his cremation, is now revered as a sacred relic and was recently returned to Việt Nam Quốc Tự.
