Lars Heikensten

Lars Heikensten, born in 1950 in Stockholm, is a prominent Swedish economist and former CEO of the Nobel Foundation (2010-2020). With a background that includes serving as the governor of the Riksbank from 1995 to 2002, Heikensten has played key roles in Swedish economic policy and international institutions. He recently published the book "Till mänsklighetens största nytta," which reflects on his experiences during a tumultuous period for the Nobel Prize and the Swedish Academy, particularly during the controversies surrounding the #MeToo movement. Heikensten is also known for his involvement with cultural institutions, currently serving as the chairman of the Skansen Foundation.
